Pug Health Problems
Pug health problems can be a worrisome issue for pug owners. Common pug health problems are eye problems, itch/allergy, problems with the anal sacs, to name some. There are several pug eye problems. If your pug rubs its eyes, that's one indication of a serious matter. If left neglected, many pugs go blind, or at best, near-blind from this condition. See your veterinarian right away. The more pug information you read, the better you will be at knowing the breed, its health problems and its care.

Pug Allergies
If you pug itches, this information could mean several things, including fleas and allergies-be it food allergies, or environmental allergies. One must rid the pug and its environment of fleas using non-toxic products. Diet has a lot to do with allergies. Many commercial pet food formulas, as well as treats, are full of allergenic ingredients. Your pug needs to eat a clean, natural, healthy formula so it can eat to strengthen their immune system. We recommend our California Gold Small Dog Food as the best for pug food allergies.

Best Dog Food for Pugs
You can't go wrong with real food in feeding your pug--oats (or brown rice), veggies and fruit along with a packet of vitamins and minerals. Created by informed pug owners for pugs, California Gold Small Dog Food has been the favorite food for pug fans all over the country for over 25 years. Many pug owners have fed their pug since they were puppies; many have stated relief of allergies, other pug health problems and many of their pugs have lived longer than expected healthy lives. You can read more about it and get FREE shipping samples here. This food results in soft and shiny coats, increased energy, and from our experience, increased longevity.

Pug Care
Good pug care is essential to owning a pug. Most of us adopt, acquire a pug so that it becomes a member of the family--it needs the same amount of care than any other family member. More pug information on pug care here.

Pug care can be divided into main categories:

  1. Nutrition
  2. Health (other than nutrition)
  3. Exercise
  4. Love/attention

Read about this pug information here.

Pug Hypoallergenic
If you have allergies and are wondering: "are pugs hypoallergenic?", then from the definition Hypoallergenic, meaning "below normal" or "slightly" allergenic, the answer is no since there is no evidence that one breed is more hypoallergenic than the other. While the premise is that the shorter the hair, the less allergy-causing dander there is to cause suffering, the truth is that dander is not the only agent causing allergy. Skin and saliva (and other), not just hair, trigger allergy symptons. More pug info on pug allergies is available here.

Pug Weight
According to the AKC,the average pug weight should be between 14 and 18 lbs. However, the AKC tends to be very conservative, liking their dogs weight to be on the lean side, if not slightly emaciated. A better, more reasonable upper pug weight is 20. That being said, every pug is built differently. In addition, nowadays, we see more average weight pugs, sturdier, bigger boned. These pugs weigh about 20 -22 lbs, without a lot of fat. They are not the AKC standard, but they are healthy and happy. Now, be very careful, this does not mean that your pug should weigh 20 or more pounds. If your pug is tiny (at full grown) then it would fall under the range of 14 to 18lb. These are almost always pure bred and most from championship lines. There's no question that from in-breeding and over-breeding today's pug is larger and therefore a heavier weight than the old standard pug weight. More information on pug weight is available here.

Our 72-page Manual
is full of essential,
hard-to-find pug information on pug health problems,
including pug eye problems, pug itch/allergy and other pug health conditions!

PUGS ARE SPECIAL--and we will pass on much of the important pug health problems and knowledge we have accumulated from years of rescuing, fostering, and placing over 130 pugs in California.
Even people who have had pugs for years
will learn a LOT!

pug health information

The Pug Health Care Manual, Vol. 1 is a no-nonsense, tell it like it is Pug Owner's Manual addressing essential pug health problems, aspects of proper care, maintenance, and longevity of your Pug.

It is to the point with no filler or fluff. It is not filled up with generalized pug information found in most dog-care books. It is also not a primer on pugs from A-Z or it would be 300 pages and cost a lot more! No, the cost of this Manual is less than a typicall vet visit, but you will probably learn much more about your pug with our highly specialized information on the following topics (usually overlooked in general dog health books) of pug health problems:

1. Does Your Pug Itch? What to do about it for instant relief, and what to do for the long haul. Diet has a lot to do with it--find info on what foods most pugs are allergic to, and what they can eat to strengthen their immune system, resulting in soft and shiny coats, increased energy, and from our experience, increased longevity.

2. Why Do Pugs Rub Their Eyes? This is the most common pug health problem reported. If left neglected, many pugs go blind, or at best, near-blind from this condition. It doesn't need to happen to yours. Includes a Do-It-Yourself Test for the most common eye disease that many vets overlook. (Note: pugs who lick their feet are almost ALWAYS also rubbing their eyes - watch them carefully. This eye information is a MUST!)

3. What Does it Mean if I Find a Lump on My Pug? First it has to be determined if it's malignant. Second, if so, what are your options? Is cancer necessarily a death-sentence? Includes alternative treatment options that work, too.

4. "My Pug is Impossible to Housebreak!" Never say never! Not when we've got "Guerilla Housebreaking Tactics!" for the hard-to-train pug of any age!

5. Anal sac problems discussed. This is one of the most talked about pug health problems.

California Gold Pet Food is the best dog food for pugs!

Real Healthy Pug Food You Can See!

Best healthy diet for pug and other small dog owners who don't have time to cook or are traveling!

No sugar
, corn, wheat, dairy, salt,
or preservatives that make pugs itch!!

Each bag also contains a FREE packet of essential vitamins & minerals.

This is a REAL FOOD diet made of human quality ingredients!

Not only do your pugs thrive on it because they are eating REAL FOOD, they are not eating gross ingredients and chemicals that may come in commercial pet food diets such as dead dog and cat bodies (you read that right), diseased portions of beef and other animals, laboratory remains, old grocery store meat complete with plastic wrappers, and slime off the processing plant's floor. (Those ingredients are all legal, by the way.)

We believe there is NO PET FOOD ON THE MARKET THAT IS HEALTHIER THAN REAL, NOURISHING FOOD! We've just been brainwashed to think otherwise by the commercial pet food industry! It's just common sense!

Why are more pets dying of cancer at an earlier age? Folks, we are going to pay for the "convenience" of pouring some kibble in a bowl once or twice a day and calling that a meal for your pet. It will come in vet bills somewhere down the line, and/or shortened longevity in the pets we love. Be an informed pug owner. This doesn't have to happen to your pug!

California Gold - Small Dog Pet Food is a healthy and best way to feed your pug real food that you can see (all human-quality), and gives your pug something to look forward to. Many of our customers call to report their pugs are so excited at meal-time that they now dance for their food!

Oats Veggies N' Fruit Formula (No-cook Formula): rolled oats, carrots, sweet potatoes, broccoli, apples, cranberries, plus a packed of minerals and vitamins in each bag.You add the meat of your choice. (We use chicken and also buy the tubes of frozen ground turkey or lamb--very economical, for our own pugs. We do not recommend beef.) Or order our Protein-Complete Formulas, no need to add anything.

A highly nutritious, fresh (veggies and fruit are dehydrated to lock in the nutrients & preserve naturally) healthy diet that pugs absolutely love when you mix with meat!

Unquestionably one of the best and healthiest "pet" foods on the market! Has no bulk fillers that make your pug fat! Easy, nutritious, and all-natural! No chemical preservatives to weigh down your pug's immune system. Watch your pug look better, feel better, and have more energy as the body is nourished, finally, with REAL FOOD!
